Let customers speak for us
Mycket trevlig.
Custom tele neck – STRATSOUND
Jazz Bass – Hot Bridge
I replaced my LP's stock humbuckers with a Revolver and a Black Heaven, and the difference is NOT SUBTLE!! The harmonics just do not stop coming out, and I am hearing all the extensions even when I crank the volume in my Deluxe Reverb. Which I don't even need to do that much now since the dynamic response is sharp! Incredible. Thanks for making these amazing things 🙂
As the title suggest, if you want the real deal this is the absolute best. The dynamics tone everything is so good. This is my third set of pickup from Lundgren and they never ever dissapoint. It feels so nice to buy and support an independent small company from my home country sweden as well!
I met Lundgren pickups through my somewhat experimental Gretsch G5260T baritone mod project. It started with changing the range, following Loathe guitarist Erik Bickerstaffe’s low-gauge approach: 105 on top.
With this bass-guitar hybrid range, I wanted punchy, driving grooves and rhythmic patterns, but still with clarity. I use fuzz and distortion sometimes, but the main sound is rather clean: controlled chaos, especially in the dynamics. As an improviser, I am usually drawn to time-based effects, so exploring fine dynamics in this way is quite new for me. I wanted rumble, but also enough response to play with it in different improvised ensemble settings.
After changing the strings and tuning, I went on quite a journey with pickup designs. I’m not a fan of active pickups, and many high-output pickups feel too sterile to me. Eventually, I ended up with a Lundgren M6 in the bridge and a Black Heaven in the neck. Johan Lundgren was very engaged in this not-so-conventional exploration and guided me nicely. That already feels priceless in a music industry dominated by massive corporations.
I added push-pull switches, wiring the M6 for coil splitting and the Black Heaven for series/parallel switching. This created a very nice and contrasting sound palette. Compared to the drier, “safer” clarity of the M6, the Black Heaven in parallel gives a punchy yet mellow, slightly darker, fatter tone, with some lovely “bacteria.” As Johan also said, it gives something like a Tom Petty sound but on steroids.
In practice, it made me want to play the guitar more and more like a percussion instrument with beautiful transients and impulses, which was exactly what I wanted. After several gigs and sessions, I can say that Lundgren pickups give you a lot of control over your low end, and what you do with that is totally up to you.
This has so far been one of the best modification decisions I have ever made.
I went to Sweden Guitarworks to look for inspiration to upgrade my Squier. Leif recommended the Complete Pickguard with a set of '50s Formvar in them. Looks good and feel good!👍
I had an old Ibanez RG and brought it back to life with a pick up swap for the Lundgren M6 bridge and neck set. I was also able to purchase the newly designed M6 single coil to go along with the set. The combination has made this my go to guitar now. Sounds great with any kind of playing I do whether it's metal, punk, prog or hardcore. These pick ups deliver on versatility, tone and clarity. I also have to mention the excellent communication and service from Johan at Lundgren! Thank you again!
Black heaven 7
Amazing! Exceptional articulation, good amount of output to drive, but not so much to compress or congest the sound, just enough to give it a good focus and edge with a modern voice. It’s surgical precision with tight responsive low end. 5 stars
After running the pickups through several amps and settings, I have to say I'm very impressed. The low end has a pleasant clarity that holds up even when pushing hard through overdrive into a dirty amp, which works perfectly for my more aggressive playing. They're equally enjoyable for softer material, and the guitar's own character comes through more than it ever did with the stock pickups.
Many thanks.
This is my second set of Black Heavens and they do not disappoint in a second guitar! Nothing else, active or passive, has such a wide frequency response on my 8 sting guitars. Everything else is either twangy on the low string, or lacks clarity on the highs. I have no idea what black magic is in these, but they seem to defy conventional physics!
Just installed my Jazzmaster pickups and I’m honestly blown away. The punch, clarity, and that unmistakable vintage character are all there with a focus and definition that really makes the guitar come alive.
It was also a real pleasure chatting with Johan - super helpful and great service all the way through.
Total joy to play and instantly inspiring. A huge upgrade. Thank you Johan!
Have been using M series humbuckers in my guitars now for 5-6 years. Great dynamic range and it's actually useable too, something that I think a lot of pickup manufacturers today miss (no point having a huge dynamic range if you have to go between picking as soft as a feather to full on sledgehammer to use it).
