Great comunication, very helpfull and amazing pickups!
I´m using this together with a Seymour Duncan "La Brea" in the bridge. I found that the neck pickup in that set were way to dark and muddy for me. This works very well paired with the La Brea. And i´ve also modded the ground to work with the S1-switch. Wonderfully defined sound and a lot brighter than many other classic tele pickups ive played. Super happy with Johans help to choose this one, and i´m eager to try out a full Lundgren set in another guitar :-)
Thank you!
I was just like everyone else, reading online about how amazing Lundgren pickups are and being pretty skeptical about all the hype around swapping to them. Now I can say it's 100% true. People are not getting paid by Lundgren to say this (just kidding), they really are AMAZING.
I installed exactly this Black Heaven 7 in the bridge position of my 7-string ESP and I fell in love with it from the very first note. It's a HUGE improvement. It fixed the muddy low-end from my old pickup right away, but it still keeps the character of my guitar. Super punchy and articulate, exactly what I was looking for. It just makes it so easy to get the sound I have in my head.
BTW, you can totally trust the description on this page. What you read is exactly what you get. AMAZING!
I bought a LTD EC258 to get into the 8 String World.
One year later I decided to Upgrade the pickups because I was not satisfied with the original ones.
After some Internet research I found the lundgren M8C and it was really easy to replace the pickups by my own.
From my point of view it was the best decision to bring my 8 string guitar to a professional level and I can only recommend this!
The sound is really great and the coil split functionality enables me to create various different sounds!
Never had pickups with this much character and aggression. Can't recommend these enough!
I bought a Schecter Banshee Mach 7 that came stock with a pair of M7s since then I've replaced the pickups in all of my 7 strings with them, and I'm considering trying the Black Heavens! Love these pickups!
The attack is fast and responsive enough that I can feel the difference between a light and a hard nail strike — the pickup doesn’t smooth over that nuance, it translates it. That dynamic range carries all the way from near-whisper fingerpicked passages to full-force playing, without ever feeling compressed or flattened.
What surprised me most is how well it holds up under distortion. Even with long, saturated lead tones, the strings never blur into a muddy wall of sound — you can still hear each string’s individual voice, even in chords and comping. That’s unusual for a pickup with this much power on tap.
Compared to what I’ve read about Lundgren’s M6/M7 models, the Black Heaven feels more relaxed and versatile rather than purely aggressive — and my experience confirms that, though from an angle I suspect most reviewers haven’t approached it from: fingerstyle playing rather than straight metal.
Overall, this is a pickup that doesn’t force you to choose between sensitivity and power. For anyone moving between genres the way I do, that combination is rare.
The guitar is custom made, one-of-a-kind so far, a headless JanJax by Erik Holmberg. These pickups are a perfect match with the guitar, which has low action, super high precision and clarity and "woody character".. The closest comparison I have is a Strandberg Prog with Fishman Fluence active pickups, but the JanJax with Black Heavens more clarity and more attack and works better for me. I own many guitars but this the one I play for everything now!
I've replaced default JET pickups, and got a treasure in my hands. Powerful output, which sparkled my pedals and tube heads. Sound is very versatile. I'm building combination of doom and modern sound, and this pickup works perfect. It allows me to create a walls-crushing tone with BigMuff and Orange, and also tight, punchy modern metal sound with TS\Eras and 5150. Love this result, love this investment in the tone, long live the Lundgren Pickups.
One of the best pickups I have ever tried I have it in at least 4 of my guitars
This is my 3rd set of M8s I put in an 8 string over the course of 15 years. This time in my newly purchased Solar A1.8. Lundgren M8 is still the unbeatable choice to put in a 8 string when it comes to clarity, tightness and tonality. A perfect choice for tight rhythmic play with great precision and for soaring leads with lots of gain and warmth.

I put one of these in the bridge position of a Les Paul Standard and it has tons of gain, sustain, harmonics and bite yet maintains all the clarity of the chords and notes you play. It handles all the metal and rock tones you could want and just absolutely blows away the pickup I had in the guitar. The purchasing experience was amazing - excellent and consistent communication and information shared by Johan. Excellent experience! I highly recommend!
Absolutely fantastic set, these cut through the mix like butter and work great with basically everything from low-gain to low tuning light chug. Neck pickup has an unbelievable clarity and pick sensitivity unheard of in a neck humbucker on a bassy/boomy shorter-scale LP-style configuration. Sustain is simply unreal. Not trying to emulate some mythical PAF-correct Eq and focusing on balancing makes it extremely versatile for recording. If you plug straight to a Marshall JCM800 with no pedals in-between these might sound at first glance like they're missing some seasoning (the usual Alnico IV flat thing) but once you try these you'll want to add the colouring on your plugins and not have them baked-in hardcoded into the pups. A well-kept secret, a hidden gem this BJFE set is - for how long I don't know!
