from 300 reviewsI got a used Strandberg from Ebay - the OS model, so already couple years old. It was loaded with a very popular brand of active pickups, that sounded cheap, hollow and like the approximation of a guitar tone. Safe to say I wasn't happy, since the guitat itself played beautifully. It sounded nice acoustically. The problems started when plugging in.
So I started my search and it seems Lundgren PUs have made a name for themselves over the last couple years. Expensive? Yes. Absolutely. But in the end they are boutique pickups, so.. well. I bit the bullet. Did a total rewiring.
First off: The CEO was absolutely awesome! Unbelievable support to all the questions I through at him. Already there I was totally okay paying more, since I received proper replies from the guy who damn well made those pickups. He helpes me out and it did not take more than a week before the set arrived.
Put them in.. and what can I say? The guitar now is a totally different instrument. The distortion is clear, with an aggressive growl, never overbearing in the bass, while the highs sing. The cleans I get out of the neck are so very melodical and full, it's just a joy to play. Sure, those pickups are made to match "the Meshuggah tone". But don't underestimate the versatility.
One crucial thing I needed to find out: Be very patient when it comes to setting up pickup height. Mr. Lundgren already told me that because of the soapbar construction, the output is a tad lower than the uncovered ones. So pickup height is key. I don't know if this is recommended, but my bridge is at roughly 1.5-2mm from the strings on both sides now to compensate. Sustain is still no issue, but I started with the pickups way, way, waaaay lower and at first was not really a fan of what I heard. So long story short: If you don't like the sound, try increasing the height and getting the soapbars closer to the strings than you would normally do with any other PU.
Thanks again! If at some point I have the spare money, maybe I'll try another of your beautys. ;)

Amazing pickups. Owner is the best too. Highest recommendation of product i can give. 10/10

I have put a set of these into my Ibanez RGD 2127z and have tried them out now for a couple of days. Did a quick recording test between this guitar and others, and while there is difference both in construction, and materials between these guitars, i found that this guitar with this set in it has a great higher mid attack in the bridge position and unrivaled tightness in the bottom register. Really stands out in the mix. The other guitars in my test are as following: Strandberg Prog 7 with fishman javier reyes signatures, Ibanez AZ24047 with original Seymour Duncan Hyperion, and an ibanez RG7 CSD1 with BKP Nailbombs (alnico V variant).
The neck pickup on this set is just lovely. Really smooth with great pick response, quite similar to the single coil on my AZ, but with no hum and no significant drop in output when switching between pickups. I went quite blind into buying these as i had watched no demos or comparisons of them but they really turned out to be just my thing! I'm really happy with this set and this guitar will be my main guitar when tracking my bone-grinding riffs! :) And while my method of comparing pickups was highly un-scientific, i hope my review will help someone on the fence of buying these to just do it! Bought directly from Mr. Lundgren at a guitar expo.

I ran into a defective bridge initially but it was resolved quickly by receiving a quick replacement, they sound superb, the clarity and output are there and they're tight, really happy with my purchase and the customer service!

I would like to know the dimensions of these pickups. Thanks in advance

Heard great things about Lungren pickups for years and finally pulled the trigger. No regrets!
Absolutely love the clarity you get with low tunings. Will be adding more to the collection!

A few times a year I go to the Old town Stockholm (gamla stan). There is a blues jam session every weekend basically. I had a new stratocastor equipped with Lundgren pickups; S90, BJFE*2. It was the first time that I brought this guitar to the jam. When it was my turn, I entered the stage, plugged in the guitar and adjusted the amp - just in a few seconds. The audience is waiting. It is always a bit of tension in this moment. Medium drive on the amplifier. Ended up a bit longer away from the amp than normal. The music started and everything felt perfect. My guitar sound was excellent. Clear as the typical strata character but more power and buoyancy. It gave me a strong feeling in the musical presence. All the planets were aligned. Once you like the sound of your instrument, you can really indulge in the music, 100% presence into that and nothing else. Wonderful and invaluable. The only bad thing is that I might have to order one more pickup, upgrading another guitar of mine.

I was looking for a high output humbucker in the bridge position that was similar to the Lundgren designed pickups in my Hagstrom Fantomen. That pickup is extremely clear and tight in the low end, unlike any other passive pickup that I had ever heard. I got in touch with Johan and he recommended the Suckerbucker. What shall I say, it's perfect. Loud, great mid range and very tight in the lows. I especially love it in parallel mode.
